New hat day.

Today I bought a new hat. It's a summer tradition with me, and since the weather has been so warm I bought it early. I had to go to the doctor for my yearly check-up, and since I was early, I parked by the church and took a stroll through the town of Montfort L'Amaury. Go check out the link, there are some nice pictures of the village, which dates back to the Middle Ages. As I was walking through the town, I saw a small shop with hats in the window. I went in, and fell in love with this one.
I've bought a new hat every year since I can remember. It can be straw, or cloth, or a cap, or whatever. Last year's hat was a floppy red cloth hat. The year before it was an even floppier pink hat made with woven yarn, and the year before that, it was a straw hat with a green ribbon.
This year, I found a hat with a buckle on it. It's a beige hat, which is nice because it 'goes' with everything. (Ever the fashion victim here...)

My new hat is chic.
Rusty and Auguste like it.
Here is a great site:
It's the plan for the church in Montfort, showing the stained glass windows in detail, if you click on the names of the windows, and then on the small icons, you get some lovely pictures of the windows, which were made in the 13th and 14th centuries. (The church and village are classified as historical monuments).

Is there something that you do that marks the begining of summer?

That looks to be a perfect summer hat!

Women are lucky that fashion allows such a wide choice of hattery... but I suppose it's still a challenge to find one that's right.

They ought to bring back the straw boater hats that men wore 100 years ago... I'm sure I'd like one of those. Generally we live in a hat free society anymore... with the exception of the omnipresent & banal baseball hat.

Summer rituals? I'd say bringing up the fans from the basement (about 4 of them) and getting used to going barefoot. Also switching from red wine to white with ice cubes...

Somehow I notice one can drink glass after glass after glass of white wine with very little ill effect. But they say red wine is better for one's health.

What a fabulous town. I could get lost in the history of it for years. did Victor Hugo live there? In the french version of the page I saw somethng about him. But in the english version there was no mention of him. Odd.

I love your hat. I need to buy a new hat this year. I use a sun visor hat thing but my head keeps burning because I keep driving with the top down on the Tracker. So I have been searching for a full on hat for about 3 weeks now to no avail. I need to find a quaint historic town with a wonderful hat shop!

Iced tea. That is my start of summer tradition. I buy a new tea pitcher and start making pitchers upon pitchers of iced tea like crazy. We may down a gallon a day between Greg and I. It's a good thing we don't use sugar.

I love summer hats.
Thank you for the links.
Summer is cleaning out the sun room and opening the windows.

Great hat! (Fashionable and sun protection to boot.)I've always wanted to be a "hat person," but I don't know if I can pull them off. I won't give up!

As soon as I can hang laundry out to dry, I know summer is here. I also like keeping my toenails painted (though interest fades after a couple of months) and making/buying popsicles.

And H is generally adorable in hats!

I start sneezing, my eyes are itchy and I buy a pair of sandals that I will wear until October!
