Blog

I have to write something and I'm having a chocolate attack. I want some chocolate!!!
I've been awfully good.
Chinese noodles for lunch. A ham and cheese sandwhich for dinner. An orange and a piece of toast for breakfast...and I want some chocolate. *sob* None in the house.
Now I have to blog hop, so excuse me while I go see what's happening in the world.

Over here in France there is a choco-holic staring at her computer screen dreaming of deep, dark, chocolate. She glances outside and sees trees silhouetted against the dove-gray sky. Her dog sits up and scratches her collar, and then yawns and goes back to sleep, curling up on the tapestry pillow that serves as her bed. The wind pulls a few leaves off the judas tree outside. Autumn has arrived and there are orange and yellow leaves mixed with the green, and the wild grapevine has turned scarlet and looks like a flame on the old stone wall.

I’m dieting and doing fairly well--at least I was until my chocolate fiasco yesterday. It was just one of those days, you know? I had a mega-chocolate attack and HAD to have some. Now, what I should have done was to go out and pick up a small tidy chocolate bar to satisfy my craving and be done with it, but noooo, I decided to make a pan of rich, gooey, fudgy homemade brownies instead.

But God in his wit and wisdom soundly punished me for giving in to my chocolate craving.

Never, I repeat, never ever use the brownie recipe from the back of a tin of healthy organic cocoa powder. The resulting concoction was so cakey and dry I needed to down it with a whole glass of water; so tasteless I had to mix up a batch of frosting to slather on top; and so insipid that even chocolate buttercream frosting couldn’t save them. Even my husband and daughter hated them. It was the first time I ever threw brownies in the garbage.

That’ll teach me to transgress on my diet.

Oh darn! No chocolate in sight. Will popcorn do?

It has to be chocolate. Popcorn is just not Rich enough, lol.
Brownies, if sticky and fudgy enough, will do.
In a pinch, steaming hot coffee with a hint of chocolate in it will chase away the longing for a little while.

Yum. I don't crave chocolate. But I DO crave PIE. And so yesterday in Fry's supermarket I convinced myself that A PINEAPPLE PIE was actually FRUIT and therefore, really good for me. In fact, with flu season coming, all that VITAMIN C had to be darned helpful. RIGHT?? So I have had TWO pieces to make sure I am protected.
