I know, I know, I haven't been blogging lately. Actually, not much is going on. After a frantic September, October was unbearably slow. I lost one of my jobs to recession (already) and after three weeks of looking for another part time job, I've decided to fall back on my artwork and start doing what I used to do before the kids were born - I'm going back to doing portraits of pets and selling my artwork.

So I fiddled around with my pastels yesterday, and did a portrait of August - I apologise because it's blurry - my camera ran out of batteries before I could get a clear shot. It's aslo a bit crooked, I propped the picture up on an angle.
And here's a photo of the real August

This afternoon I'm going to start printing up posters to put in the vets' offices and poney clubs in the region. Any other ideas?

Oh I love that picture of August - what a wonderful expression you've captured! I do hope this works out for you - and I think putting up posters in the vets and pet shops etc is an excellent idea.
Other ideas - jewelery making, beading etc? Cheerful stuff that's not too expensive but which also offers a great creative outlet.

Great painting. Good luck with selling your prints and things. Lana sells a piece of art here and there but the market is a bit tight it seems.

Glad to hear from you and know nothing is terrible wrong.

That's an excellent likeness...

I'd think that putting an online listing for pet portraits might be the most effective. Maybe a simple website or link to an image from Flickr or something.

Good luck...

p.s. I too have been fixing things like crazy. Usually it's a perilous undertaking, as often I think I'll do more damage than good.

But in this economy one must mend and make do.
